Disasters played a major role in the 1930s bringing along diseases due to the deadly disasters, through the tough times others made the best of it such as the famous painting “The American Gothic." The famous painting was such a significant masterpiece therefore capturing the true essence of tragedy and despair in emotions; however, and although the 1930s were thriving with grating and burdensome times, it didn’t shatter hope for a new life.

Furthermore, Disasters in the 1930s were life threatening and severe, During the 1930s the most disastrous and devastating event that happened in U. S history was “The Great Depression." The Great Depression was caused by a stock market crash and caused a widespread epidemic problem across the united states. Due to the crash there was no money available so they made a new deal and a second new deal in ways to buy things instead of using actual currency which they had no more of because all banks were closed down and empty because of the crashes which caused bankruptcy to most citizens and residents in the U.S. The number toll of people losing their homes was increasing and became a common aspect in America’s towns and cities. There was an estimate of approximately more than 15 million Americans that were unemployed and nearly half the countries bank had failed in the first 100 days.(History.com Editors pg.1)The Great Depression reached its lowest point by 1933 which caused death and hunger and created great pain and suffering.
In addition, to all the disasters diseases developed quickly afterwards due to the disasters such as “The Great Depression” and “The dust bowl”. During this time in the 1930’s people on the Great plains greatly suffered from “dust pneumonia” also known as a killer disease in the lungs/respiratory system. People also suffered from food-borne illness in many countries due to the lack of refrigeration. Another great in the 1930’s was “Suicide”, the suicide mortality increased and became more frequent as disasters struck during the rough times. The most effective diseases in the 1930’s which caused the death toll to rise were “Influenza, Cancer, pneumonia otherwise known as the Flu, tuberculosis also known as a contagious infection caused by bacteria, heart disease, car accidents and suicide.”(Focus Medica: P.T.
